Trace an equipment issue.

Ask neil which batches and results need review after an equipment finding. Trace recorded uses across manufacturing and lab systems, expose missing links and prepare a source-backed impact brief.

You: BAL-07 failed its check. Which batches do we need to look at?

neil

I found two batch links and one laboratory use that needs tracing. They sit between the last acceptable check and the failed check on 14 August.

  1. B-318Dispensing
  2. B-322Dispensing
  3. Batch missingRES-091
Recorded matches in the supplied MES and LIMS exports.

I’d keep all three uses in the assessment. The missing batch link is work to resolve, not a reason to leave the sample out.

What did you search?

Exact BAL-07 references from 12 August at 08:00 to 14 August at 14:30 UTC, inclusive. The exports do not cover paper logs, aliases or records without equipment references. The equipment owner still needs to confirm the full scope.

You: The assay passed, though. Does that sample really need reviewing?

neil

Yes. RES-091 reports 99.1%, within its 98–102% interval. But its calculation uses the 10.000 g preparation mass measured on BAL-07.

The number passing its limit doesn’t answer whether that weighing was reliable. I’d ask the lab for the preparation and calculation worksheets, and trace the result back to its batch.

You: Can we just subtract 0.060 g from the weights?

neil

Not from this evidence. That’s the error at one 100 g check point. The recorded net masses are 10, 85 and 120 g, with different tolerances and measurement contexts.

I’d need the original gross and tare readings, performance across the relevant loads, and evidence about when the error arose. I’ll leave the recorded weights intact and make those evidence requests explicit.

You: Put that into a brief for Quality, with the records and the work still needed.

neil

Here’s the assessment brief and an export of the recorded uses. Each finding leads back to its source; the open questions are separated by reviewer.

Prior-use impact assessment

Two known batch links and one unresolved laboratory use. These are candidates for assessment, not confirmed product failures.

RUN-318 / B-318

12 Aug, 10:20 UTC. Dispensing; recorded mass 85.000 g.

Original gross/tare readings and balance performance at the loads used; assess against the 84.950–85.050 g step interval.

RUN-322 / B-322

13 Aug, 15:05 UTC. Dispensing; recorded mass 120.000 g.

Original gross/tare readings and balance performance at the loads used; assess against the 119.900–120.100 g step interval.

SAMPLE-091 / batch link missing

14 Aug, 09:10 UTC. Lab preparation; recorded mass 10.000 g. Result RES-091.

Parent-batch trace, full preparation and calculation worksheet, and relevant balance performance; assess the effect on RES-091.

Search scope and selected sources

Exact BAL-07 references in the supplied MES and LIMS exports, from 12 August 2026 at 08:00 to 14 August at 14:30 UTC. Paper logs, aliases, other systems and uses without equipment references are outside this search.

Six source snapshots, 14 August 2026 at 15:00 UTC. The earlier acceptable check is a review boundary, not the known start of failure.

Evidence needed and responsible reviewers
Equipment owner
Supply the full as-found data, relevant load range, uncertainty and repair history. Confirm the review window and reconcile electronic matches with aliases, paper logs and any unlinked use. Keep the current restriction under the authorised equipment process.
Manufacturing reviewer
Obtain the original weighing records for RUN-318 and RUN-322. Assess gross/tare method, loads, assigned tolerances and the significance for each batch with the equipment owner.
Laboratory reviewer
Trace SAMPLE-091 to its parent batch and retrieve the full preparation, calculation and acquisition records for RES-091. Assess the effect of the weighing concern on the result; preserve the original reported value.
Quality reviewer
Review the evidence and scope, determine any further containment or investigation, and record a separate disposition for each relevant batch or result. No disposition is inferred from this trace.

No historical weight is corrected, result invalidated or batch released by this brief. Equipment return to use and prior-use impact are separate reviews.

Send me the missing worksheet and I can update the batch links without replacing this version.

The earlier check is a search boundary, not proof of when the problem began. The +0.060 g indication error at one point is not a correction applicable to all earlier weighings.
